The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) method is commonly used phenotypic methods in the AST because the ADD method still has the limitations which couldn’t allow direct comparison of antibacterial efficacy.

In the agar and broth dilution method, different concentrations of antibiotics are inoculated in different tubes and bacterial cultures are added, the susceptibility of bacteria is determined by optical methods after cultivation.
We also perform the MIC service using 96-well microdilution trays, which allow for the use of small volumes and automated dispensing devices, as well as the testing of multiple antimicrobials and/or microorganisms in one tray. We have high accuracy spectrophotometers to detect turbidity or a color change if an appropriate biochemical substrate that changes color in the presence of bacterial growth is included in each well.
The Etest is a combination of the ADD test and dilution test. This gradient strip method is performed by adding plastic strips impregnated with different concentrations of antibiotics on the culture medium.
