Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing Service

Antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) is a test method commonly used for antibiotic drugs, which is conducive to the choice of therapeutic drugs. The use of AST in veterinary medicine and human medicine has both similarities and differences. Creative BioMart Microbe has rich experience in AST of veterinary field, and our experts can customize suitable test programs according to the actual needs of customers.

Antibiotic Susceptibility Testing

Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing Service

The emergence of multidrug resistant bacteria in veterinary drugs has brought great pressure to the veterinary community. It not only affects the effectiveness of antibiotics, but also limits the treatment options of veterinarians. AST is an important tool that can be used to guide the choice of therapeutic drugs. AST can be divided into two categories: phenotypic methods and genetic methods. Among them, the agar disk diffusion (ADD) method and the broth microdilution minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) method are commonly used phenotypic methods.

Creative BioMart Microbe Provides the Following Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing Services for Customers:

  • ADD Testing Service
  • ADD is a sensitive, low-cost AST test method that is widely used in veterinary medicine. Generally, a standard concentration of bacterial culture is inoculated on an agar plate, a paper disk impregnated with an antibacterial agent is added to the plate, and the size of the inhibition zone near the paper disk is observed. The diameter of the inhibition zone is related to the MIC. Our ADD testing service is suitable for many types of antibacterial agents and microorganisms, and provides customers with detailed experimental data and reports.

  • MIC Method Service
  • There are many kinds of MIC methods, including agar dilution method, semi-automatic broth dilution method, and gradient strip method. In the agar and broth dilution method, different concentrations of antibiotics are inoculated in different tubes and bacterial cultures are added, the susceptibility of bacteria is determined by optical methods after cultivation. The gradient strip method is performed by adding plastic strips impregnated with different concentrations of antibiotics on the culture medium. We have established a complete AST technology platform, including the MALDI-TOF MS technology platform, to provide testing service assistance according to customer needs.

  • Genetic Method Service
  • Creative BioMart Microbe provides several genetic technology platforms for AST services, such as PCR, DNA microarray, DNA chip, etc. Through genetic testing, it is determined whether microorganisms have genes that confer antibiotic resistance. Genetic method services can help customers achieve rapid and sensitive detection of resistance genes.
