Product Description
Verticillium lecanii contains the spores and mycelial fragments of an entomopathogenic fungus called Verticillium lecanii which has mycoparasitic action on rust and powdery mildew fungi. Verticillium is available in both wettable powder and liquid formulation.
Mode of Action
Verticillium infects all stages of insects including eggs, larvae, pupae, nymphs and adults. The spores attached to the insect’s cuticle/ integuments germinate and penetrate the insect body. The hyphae, through enzyme action, proliferate in insect body and cause mortality through a combination of chemical, mechanical, water loss and nutrient loss effect. The insect body ultimately gets covered with mycelium and spores, which may get dispersed and cause subsequent infections. Certain toxins called destruxin produced by this fungus also cause the mortality of insects.
Pests
Verticillium effectively controls sucking pests such as Aphids, Scales, Thrips, Whiteflies, Red spider mites, Leaf hoppers and  Mealy bugs, for a wide range of crops. Very effective on Coffee green scales. Verticillium is eco-friendly and it helps to maintain the ecological balance.
Usage
Verticillium is used for foliar spray and soil application. The normal dosage is 20 g per plant.
Soil Application: Mix 3 - 5 kg Verticillium with 200 kg organic manure and apply uniformly to moist soil (1 acre). For tree crops mix 20 g with 1 kg organic manure and apply at the base.
Foliar Spray: Mix 10 kg Verticillium in 500 litres of water per hectare and spray on the foliage during evening hours. Use the spray solution as a direct spray targeting the pests on the undersides of the leaves.
Drip Irrigation: Verticillium can be mixed at 20g /litre of water. After filtering it can be incorporated into the soil through the drip irrigation system during the pre or post planting stage. Apply preferably in the early morning or during the late evening hours.
