Efficacy and Effect
Biological oil removal is an extracellular surfactant produced by hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria. It can significantly reduce the surface tension and critical micellar concentration between solution and hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria, and is easy to form micelles. During micellar formation, emulsification occurs and hydrocarbons (oil) are dispersed in the water phase. The molecular structure of biosurfactants is more complex than that of chemical surfactants, with higher molecular weight and more functional groups.
