Trypto Soy Broth, commonly referred to as Soybean-Casein Digest Medium or Tryptic Soy Broth, is a liquid medium used for the cultivation of a wide variety of microorganisms. The inclusion of Casein Peptone and Soy Peptone in the formula enhances the growth of many fastidious microorganisms without the addition of blood or serum. It can support the growth of a wide variety of microorganisms including aerobes, anaerobes and fungi. Sodium Chloride provides essential electrolytes and maintains osmotic equilibrium. Dextrose is the fermentable carbohydrate and Dipotassium Phosphate acts as a pH buffer.

Product Ingredients

Enzymatic digest of casein (17.0 g/L), Dipotassium Phosphate (2.5 g/L), Soy Peptone (3.0 g/L), Dextrose (2.5 g/L), Sodium Chloride (5.0 g/L). Final pH: 7.3 ± 0.2 at 25 °C. Grams per liter may be adjusted or formula supplemented to obtain desired performance.

Usage Method

Mix 30 grams of the medium in one liter of purified water until evenly dispersed. Heat with repeated stirring and boil for one minute to dissolve completely. Distribute and autoclave at 121°C for 15 minutes.

Storage

Store the sealed bottle containing the dehydrated medium at 2 to 30°C. Once opened and recapped, place the container in a low humidity environment at the same storage temperature. Protect it from moisture and light. The dehydrated medium should be discarded if it is not free flowing or if the color has changed from the original color.
